Tiger Talk

Three from Three

Fresh from a break of the bye, and a couple of weeks since our last Tiger Talk we reflect on the matches against Brighton. This round saw the first time in many years that the Tigers won all three games on the day and saw the Senior’s First win of the Season. The Under 18s won their fifth on the trot to stay unbeaten for 2017 and the Reserves gritted out a hard earned win. Full Video of all three games can be viewed here — https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eht1vhpdxGM&t=35s

We catchup with Andrew Henderson!

Q: Tell me something about yourself people mightn’t know?
A: Adam Henderson and I aren’t related.

Q: Not the best start to the year so far for the Tigers, what do you make of the season so far?
A: Yeah, admittedly on field things have been pretty disappointing, but we’ve identified the areas we need to improve and the group is working really hard to achieve that. We have a very talented squad in all three grades and once we can produce resilient four quarter efforts in the reserves and seniors we will trouble a lot of teams. The success of the under 18’s shouldn’t be underestimated, we’ve really lacked a quality colts team for some time, so to have a great group of young men and talented players coming through is very exciting. So despite how it looks superficially, we’re laying the foundations that will hold the club in good stead for a long period of time.

Q: Who’s the most annoying bloke you’ve played footy with and why?
A: Ah, gee I dunno, it takes a lot to annoy me. Someone who I haven’t known for very long but seems to be pretty annoying is Jack Coward. LOVES to talk when the coaches are.

Q: Who do you model your footy on?
A: I don’t really have one person specifically; I tend to try pinch bits and pieces from a few. Nick Riewoldt is someone I admire for his work rate and commitment to one team through some pretty tough periods. I also like Bont and Fyfe because they are dynamic and well rounded.

Q: What are you doing with yourself at University for those who don’t know?
A: I’m in my last year of my Masters of Teaching, so really looking forward to finishing up.

Kitchen Upgrades

This week the club has begun upgrading our kitchen facilities in the den, this is largely thanks to gaining a $20,000 Commonwealth Grant. A big thankyou to Andrew Wilkie MP for his support in the application. More news around facilities should be just around the corner so keep your eyes out. Photos are available here.

Legends of Revue

John X and the Legends of Revue will be putting on the funniest, rudest, childishest show ever at the TCA Ground (Hobart FC) on June 17 from 8pm. Tickets are $25 per person and are available from the Den on Thursday night (from Paul Munting behind the bar) or online here. Support your footy club and get tickets now!
