A football club is only as good as the people which form a part of it. In 2018 the Hobart Football Club set an ambitious goal to have 500 members. We currently sit at 342 members. But there is still time for us to get to our target. With memberships starting at just $10, it’s not too late to show your support for the Hobart Football Club.
The Week Gone:
After a week off for most of our sides for the Representative Game we are back for important clashes with Claremont (and the women against New Norfolk on Sunday). The Women’s side led their game until half time before going down to The Port 6.1.37 to 1.6.12. It was Hobart’s turn to host the gala day at New Town Oval.
Whilst the Representative Game saw a disappointing result for the league the HFC congratulates its players including Mark Cripps, Will Stadler and Jamie Woolley in the Under 18s. Of course our Under 18s Coach Nathan Hartnett led the side as Coach. The Seniors saw Liam Azzopardi co-captaining, and Callam Woodward, Josh Spriggs and James Pulford all representing their competition. Congratulations to all involved who represented the HFC and SFL proudly.
The Masters played in Sunday thriller at Kingston Beach oval with the final scores tied at 3.5 apiece for a draw with the Sorell Eagles. Superstar Centre Half Forward Paul Banks couldn’t manage a goal, but the Pigskins at least took away two points from the game.

A Throwback to the 90s (Remembering 1997 to 1999) – Part Two
Unfortunately, we haven’t yet managed to put together our piece on the remarkable 1999 season, following on from last week’s part one. We will provide the final installment next week.
For this week however, we’ve included a picture showing Hobart’s senior team celebrating at the final siren after registering its first victory in the Southern Football League on Saturday, 9th May 1998.
This broke a 25 match losing streak stretching back to 17th August 1996 in the TFL Statewide League, by defeating Lindisfarne by 114 points at the TCA Ground. It was also the club’s first win at the TCA Ground since 22nd June 1996 when it beat South Launceston in an ABC televised match.
In the front is former president Noel Gray Jr, coach Ray “Chook” O’Rourke beside him in the brown jacket, Life Member Graeme “Cazza” Bailey is the runner in the green shirt on the left, all surrounded by jubilant players.
SFL – Round 5: (Saturday, 9th May 1998)
Hobart: 5.6 (36) | 11.10 (76) | 15.22 (112) | 21.31 (157)
Lindisfarne: 1.1 (7) | 3.2 (20) | 5.5 (35) | 6.7 (43)

(Colts): Hobart 12.10 (82) d Lindisfarne 5.3 (33)
