AFTERWARDS the players invite other players and Tiger’s supporters back to the Den (Clubrooms) for some drinks to reflect on the Round 1 match from 6.30pm.

If you missed it last week – Alex Fitzgerald wrote a fantastic SEASON PREVIEW (click to read)

Last Weekend Saw our Juniors Underway with our Under 12s kicking off the season with a win. Well done to them! (More Junior information will be in the next Tiger Talk)

Summer Notes

They say it’s been a big week in football but it’s been a lot bigger summer at the Tiger Den.
Pre pre-season started with a group of 15 players a week  after the AFL grand final and this has been an endurance test for those campaigners.  We have seen the changing of the guard starting at the AGM with board changes and soon followed by coaching announcements with Mark Beck taking the seniors, Scott Quinn the reserves and Will Perry the under 18’s.  It is certainly many years since the club had former players in all coaching positions and as youthful as this group.  The enthusiasm around the club has been very noticeable.  From the first official training run we have set records on training numbers, commencing with 60 + and Tuesday night the TCA was awash with Tiger jumpers. We have 7 listed recruits with only three losses and we are looking for an improvement on last season’s result.

Our sponsors have not been absent either with Co-Op Toyota again signing on as our major sponsor (this is the fourth consecutive year), CDC  stepping up to the plate and managing our kitchen renovations (an in progress change), Seajen Investments, The Roaring Grill, Beaurepaires, The Car Doctor, Eastside Mowers and Chainsaws, The Talbot Tavern and Mc  Donald’s City outlet all assisting to make our club stronger.  There are many more sponsors on board and we will acknowledge them throughout the year. Without all the generous support from our sponsors the club could not survive and we thank them all.

The next agenda item is What’s happening in the den this season and again it’s entertainment time.  Tonight is an open den for players and supporters to catch up and of course next week at the TCA you can witness a thrilling match on Good Friday between the Tigers and New Norfolk Football Club.  Our Social co-ordinators have excelled this year and we have already witnessed an entertaining evening with playing guernseys presented to all players by club dignitaries and old players at a semi formal function. The entertainment line up for the year includes gatherings of old players, the Black and Gold formal evening, a comedy evening with our number one ticket holder John X and more so watch this space.

It is now time to let the games begin but one last request, No matter who  you support or where you travel , love the game and give back a few hours a year to assist your favourite club.

See you all at Tigerland!
