Tenants of the TCA Ground in Hobart have welcomed Federal Labor’s commitment of $3.35 million for the redevelopment of the tenant clubs and community facilities at the TCA ground.
The announcement today from Senator Penny Wong and Labor’s candidate for Clark, Ben McGregor, will ensure that the current run-down facilities, occupied by multiple sporting clubs, can be upgraded.
The redevelopment plan includes the provision of modern change rooms including dedicated female change rooms, toilets, umpires’ facilities, and function and social space facilities at the grounds in Queens Domain. The announcement follows a recent ground resurface and major improvements to the H.C. Smith Stand, completed by the Hobart City Council.
Russell Young of the Hobart Football Club and Jill Taylor of North Hobart Cricket Club said that the redevelopment commitment will ensure an increase in community and female sport engagement and participation at the ground.
“We are delighted with Labor’s announcement which will enable the planned upgrades to go ahead.” Mr Young said. “This is a really positive investment in the local community that will increase participation, including from all tenant clubs.”
“We look forward to the project proceeding and thank the Labor Party for their support.”
