Lest We Forget
On ANZAC Day it is important to pay tribute to servicemen and women past and present. The club continued its tradition of attending the Dawn Service with players and supporters in attendance. Following this, a light training session and breakfast was had. At the going down of the sun, and in the morning we will remember them.
Thursday Night Tea
This week our men’s side is training at Hutchins school oval from 5.30-6.30pm before the Player’s Tea and selection announcements at 7pm. The second monthly 100 club draw is on, with members needing to have paid at least another $10 off their ticket to be in the draw this week.
Well what a fantastic day for our long time faithful at the TCA Ground last week, a big crowd turning up for the club’s first game of the season on the newly resurfaced TCA Ground. It looked fantastic and the Reserves certainly didn’t disappoint kicking their way to a 94 point win on the impressive looking surface. The new scoreboard impressed all as well and again a big thankyou to Rendell Emmett for his hard work!
A see-sawing encounter in the Seniors saw the Tigers come back in the third quarter and again in the last before Cygnet took the lead with a behind with a couple of minutes left. The Tigers got the ball inside 50 but the siren robbed us of an opportunity on goal, ‘Fish’ Reeves showing just a few more moments were needed before booting a goal from 50 immediately after the siren went to the disappointment of the Tigers’ faithful. A narrow loss for the Tigers a disappointing end to a great day.
Unfortunately also the Under 18s kicked the day off at New Town Oval going down to Southern Storm by 30 points to end their big winning streak which ran back to 2016.
The Women playing on Sunday played against a classy Lindisfarne outfit, and were unfortunately up against it. The Women Tigers scoring a solitary two behinds, with a few chances on goal going the wrong way.
This week sees the Tigers take on New Norfolk for the Trevor Leo Cup at Boyer Oval with all four SFL sides playing at Boyer Oval, the club taking the opportunity to welcome some past players for the great occasion and thank New Norfolk in advance for their generous hospitality which they always provide. We, of course, wish all four Tigers’ sides the best of luck for the clashes!
